Carolyn Wright is a proud native of Memphis, TN, with a deep and rich love of music which was instilled in her at a very early age. She is blessed to be the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Sarah Hinton. The Hinton’s, who adopted Carolyn at age 2, noticed that she had a special talent and gift for singing. Wanting to encourage, foster, and motivate her to continue her interest in singing, by age 4, they began to introduce her to various music genres including, gospel, classical, and country. At age 7, her introduction to singing in the church choir got it’s genesis at Mt. Joyner Missionary Baptist Church when her mother volunteered her to sing “The Lord’s Prayer”.
Upon attending Fairley High School, Carolyn continued to pursue her love of music by enrolling in the school chorus. It was during this time that she was able to compete and win multiple singing competitions. Some of her accolades include All West Tennessee Chorus for three years, Outstanding Soprano for four years, and 1st place at The Mid-South Talent Premiere. In 2023, she was the recipient  of 2 (two) Rhythm of Gospel awards for her single, “Lord of All”; Praise/Worship Artist of the Year and Praise/Worship Song of the Year. She has also shared the stage with some amazing artist which include, Dottie Peoples, Donnie McClurkin, LeAndria Johnson, Doug Williams, Kierra Sheard, Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, VaShawn Mitchell, Shirley Caesar, & LaCresia Campbell.
Carolyn is a proud mother of three beautiful children, KeOsha, Tikora, and Overton Jr.
Carolyn attributes much of her success to being blessed with the gift and love of singing, to those that continue to mentor, encourage, and support her, and her firm belief in her favorite bible passage, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.
